Brynn is 3

Well, yesterday was the offical birthday! Brynn is now three and if you are still counting, this makes cake #3. (she helped decorate this one as well) We had everyone over for dinner last night and a fun time was had by all!

And what fun things did my child get to do on her birthday you ask?......Go to the DENTIST!!
Brynn has had a discolored tooth ever since the accident that caused this so we made a trip back to the dentist for them to fill the hole in her tooth. I was so proud of her! She never moved while they gave her the gas or filled her tooth in. She laid back and stared straight into his eyes and never flinched. The best part was he told her that she was going to have to lay back and not say anything while he worked on her. As he went to put the gas on her she said, "Wait! There is going to be Dora and Swiper on my cake.......(pause)......okay I no say no more words."
Adorable!!

Here was Sadie living up the party!!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

WOW last night was a grrrrrrreat night, let me tell you! We had a good ole' batch of Texas thunderstorms and boy was it fun around the Leach house. At around 11:30 (right as Justin and I climbed into bed), the storms got pretty loud and suddenly Sadie started SCREAMING out. I mean, screaming at the top of her lungs at a shrill level piercing through the house. I have never heard her freak out like this and so I was off running to her room to see what could have happened to her. How in the world a 19 month old can be scared of thunder is beyond me, but she was quivering all over and could not catch her breath. I pick her up and immediately she buries her head into my neck as I try to console her and calm her down.

Well of course Brynn is now in on the action and is screaming for someone to save her as well. Daddy gets her and off they go to our room to snuggle up in our bed.

We get both calmed down and back in their beds and then.....ding, ding, ding, ROUND 2. Second verse same as the first.

By the time Round 3 came along I realized that I just needed to make arrangements for both of them. Daddy and Brynn got our bed and Sadie and I set up camp in the chair. Okay, that lasted for about 30 minutes and then I got a neck cramp.......so we move over to the couch.......not enough room......off to Brynn's bed......Sadie just wants to crawl all over the bed.....back to the chair. I held her and watched the clock playing the game of, "If I go to sleep right now I will get ___ hours of sleep." You know that one that you play when you really want to fall asleep but for some reason cannot. (Which by the way is so weird to me because I could fall asleep at any point during the day, but go to bed when I am not too sleepy and nope I just watch the clock).

Needless to say, Sadie finally shut her eyes at a little past 4. As in....4:00AM. I hadn't seen that time of day since the newborn months. Wow, didn't miss it.

I was at low point and God came in and blessed me with......Sadie and Brynn did not budge until 11:30am!! Hallaleujah!!

It was amazing!

Thank goodness we are in for pretty weather the rest of the week!!

American Idol Here We Come

This one takes the cake......today as we were walking through Pep Boys, Brynn decides to start singing the theme from "Wonder Pets" at the top of her lungs. Justin is not the one who enjoys such 'loud-in-public' fun. About the fourth time through, I remembered I had my camera in my purse. Justin's face is priceless!!!! (please ignore Brynn's bangs)

The Park

When you can't go to the park, just build one!

PS: In addition to my last post, Sadie busted out with "Happy Birthday to me!" today.....Who is this kid?

"What was that?"

Sadie has always been our "not-so-talkative" child. Brynn talks enough for 14 kids combined, so I guess she never felt the need to chime in! During our 'alone time' I noticed just how many words she knows, but never says. Before this weekend she would say the simple things: Peez (please), mama, dada, ben (Brynn), mow (more), juice, night-night, etc.

As I am getting ready the other night she randomly walks up and points to my straightener and says, "No touch, HOT!"

Ummmm.....excuse me!? I didn't know she knew that

(A) the straightener was hot

(B) that she knew the word touch or

(C) that she could put all of it together and form a complete thought!

Simple I know, but this shows just how little she talks.

So yesterday she is playing with her toys, totally in her own world and out comes, "one, two, free, fo, five, sis, seben, eight....(pause).....nine, ten!"

HOLY CRAP! Did that just happen? Of course I call mom and Justin and OF COURSE she doesn't do it again and just stares at me like I am a complete liar. I bribe and bribe, but nope, she will not perform on command. I am thinking there is no way anyone will believe that my child went from mama/dada to counting to ten.

FINALLY after a day's worth of persuasion she counted for mom and Justin so I DO have witnesses to prove it! (but of course I was never able to get this on video)

I guess she is just meant to be the quiet genius!

Alone Time

We are trying a new thing this weekend and so far it has been WONDERFUL. Brynn is at the in-laws all weekend and we have Sadie here alone. This way, they get special one-on-one bonding time and so do we. I truly have enjoyed having Sadie all to myself. She absolutely cracks me up! This was the story for tonight:

Sadie cannot say frog. It comes out as well......the not so nice "F" word. I mean clear as a bell, comes out like that. SO

We went up to Blockbuster to get a flick for the night and she was watching Shrek 2 in the car and you know in the beginning the king is a........FROG! So what is in my child's head as we walk into the store....you guessed it. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that we had to say, "She is trying to say frog" to 5 different couples as they turned around and glared at our 1 year old yelling the "F" word in the store.

Also today one of my dearest friends from HSU, Chana, came by and cannot begin to tell you how much that girls cracks me up. We sat here visiting, catching up, laughing, and telling old stories. Dang I had really missed her. She brought her adorable daughter Chandler over and her and Sadie bonded over a little Barney. I truly have some amazing memories from college and I could never replace some of the awesome girlfriends I had from there! Here are the precious ladies:

Well, we look forward to a fun-filled weekend of pure spoiling.

Oh! Welcome Rachel, Bicky, Tahj and others to the blog! (finally my links list is beginning to look like I actually have friends-even if the are only www friends)

Gone Baby Gone

WARNING: IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE "GONE BABY GONE" THEN DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

We watched this movie last night and I would love some comments on it. I have always sucked at those "ethical dilemma" issues where the right thing is not always the best thing. Any movie that involves a child always gives me these deep thoughts. I just honestly do not know what I would have done. Justin blatently says he would have never returned the child. I really do not know what I would have done. I would love to hear your comments!

When it rains....

Little did I know that when I woke up Friday morning and got ready for work, I should have turned around, crawled back in bed, and not have woke up until Saturday!

I head off to work, no worries! Friday is Toddler Time at the store and it is always a huge hit. We had 27 kids and 23 parents. 50 People all there singing the songs together and listening to the wonderful books. So, afterwards I am in a pretty in-depth conversation with my boss and *PAUSE*

You know how when you bottle frustration up for months and months and never speak about it, then once you do it all comes flowing out like a massive hurricane
*BACK TO STORY*

I start tapping into this mounting frustration and as I am talking I feel the urge coming on, the sweating, the shakiness and then without my control big, HUGE crocodile tears start coming, no I mean POURING out. I am suddenly an uncontrollable bawl-bag in front of my boss rambling on and on without being able to stop. Complete diarrhea of the mouth. It was horrible! I try to compose myself but there was no possible way to regain any composure at this point.

Pure embarrassment.

So, I leave work and head home to find some makeup and decency so that I could head to a funeral. My parents next door neighbor of 15 years died suddenly at the age of 50. He is younger than my dad and his two kids are younger than me. He went to the doctor for the flu on Monday and here it is Friday and we are at his funeral. Reality check on the fragility of life.

After the funeral, I head back up to work to wrap a few things up. Mom is still with me from the funeral and so I get back in the car and start chatting away with her. I am backing up and then BAM! I hit something. Oh yes, I have backed into one of the employees cars. She is inside working and so I have to go get this poor, innocent teenager and tell her I just hit her car. NICE. She is now crying in the parking lot calling her mom and I am wanting to crawl under a rock at this point. You would think I am done here.

I get home and proceed to call Justin and tell him how horrible this day was. He calls back and says that he got mom to watch the kids and that we are going to dinner ALONE. YIPPEEEEEE! An adult meal with my husband! The day is turning around! I hang up the phone and realize Brynn has now crawled on the bar stool and is messing with stuff on the counter. I get onto her and sling the bar stool back so it would slide on the hardwood floors out of our way. I sling the dang thing right in between my 3rd and 4th toe. YUP! You guessed it! Broke my 4th toe. The poor thing is just dangling over my pinky toe. I call Justin back screaming with pain for him to drive faster. We get it put back in place and YES

I hobbled into Abuelos alone with my husband for a 'romantic' date.

I would post a picture of my black/blue/green foot but my toenails are horrible and now a pedicure is out of the question for awhile.

Crying in front of your boss, going to a funeral, wrecking your car, breaking your toe.....YUP....Pretty much a really crappy day!

No more Debbie Downer......this weekend has been absolutely great for us! Justin didn't get called out and we spent both days letting the girls run wild at the park. I sat on the bench (obviously) and enjoyed watching Justin play with the girls. He has truly been missed lately and this weekend was truly a precious memory in my mind. Just watching the girls laugh uncontrollably as he played chase with them melted my heart. I guess its the little things in life that make it all worthwhile!

Happy Monday!!
