Christmas 2007

We have had a wonderful Christmas! (I know it is tomorrow but we had an early Santa visit). We had Christmas with my parents Saturday night and then Santa and Christmas with his parents today. I will just let the pictures do the talking (out of the 98 pictures I just picked the highlights):

Santa Trip

We made the oh-so-fun trip to see Santa last night! This trip is always filled with A LOT of bribery and Justin and I always end up getting in a fight because I have to get the perfect picture (yes I am one of THOSE moms). It went semi-rather well. The girls were amazing! (And yes they got cookies later)

My Dream Job

WOW! What a long week it has been! We have been kid-free since Wednesday and before I get the little darlings back, I thought I would update ya!

Through my job, I have the opportunity to work with various people in the Abilene community. One of these is one of the DJs of the morning show on Power 103 named Calli. We have become pretty close over the last few months and I expressed to her my deep-down desire to DJ a radio show. Well, her co-host came down with pneumonia..........while I am very sad about that, ..........I asked her if she would be lonely doing the show all alone.........she said, "Meet me there at 6 in the morning!"

Are you serious?!?!!?

YUP! I did the morning show with her Wednesday and Thursday. (this is where I would insert a picture of me in the studio, but I never took one)

I had an absolute blast! And yes I called everyone in Abilene and told them to tune in. It really was a lot of fun but I don't think I could do the whole wake up at 5am everyday. Now if I got to be on the Kidd Kraddick show, I could swing it (no offense Calli-love ya!)

My other fun story was that I got to babysit a friend of mine from college's baby boy. Baby as in only 5 weeks old!!!! Baby boy as in.....I have never had one of those!!!! I melted with him in my arms! I tried to talk Justin into another one, but he kindly reminded me that they grow up into the lovely children we have now. Darn! Thought I would try at least. There is nothing better than that new baby smell and when they nestle their little head deep into your neck........AHHHHHH...........LOVE IT!

SO, you would think with all of this time off that I would have all of my Christmas stuff done........not a chance. I am going to have a very interesting week getting stuff done. Well, I guess I will go get my sweeties and save my in-laws! ADIOS

Thursday, November 29, 2007

I know.....I am a HORRIBLE blogger! The only excuse I can give is that I am "handmaking" some Christmas gifts and my evenings have been taken up by that. I cannot elaborate on that due to some of the recipients are blog readers, so just know it will be worth it in the end.

Christmas is officially off and running in our house. The decorations are up (and I did tone it down a little from last year), we have played in the snow, and watched "Shrek the Halls." Now, all we lack is the shopping! YIPPEE!

Work has been a little hectic due to the holidays, but not unbearable. Justin is enjoying his new job and has been learning a lot. The girls are NOT happy about having to stay inside due to the cold weather. They have been SO hyper and stir-crazy! AHHHH!!!

Last Sunday, it finally snowed here and we took the girls outside:

Fun was had by all!

Now take a minute and watch this. It will most definitely put a smile on your face. I would so totally do this but Justin would NEVER go for it!

Thanksgiving memories

Last weekend we went up to Holliday, TX to help my Nanny wrap things up at her old house so that she could officially live in Abilene. Her mother (my great-grandma Jones) had lived there and we always had our Thanksgivings there and this place holds a very special place in my heart. My Grandma Jones passed away at the young age of 100 (it actually may have been 101 so please excuse me if I am wrong). Anyways, this was probably my final trip back there and it was very bittersweet. Grandma Jones always had a joke to make and a smile on her face. She never met a stranger and loved everyone deeply. I took some pictures of her old house so that I will never forget my Thanksgivings spent here:

On a different note, Brynn has been dying for a purse so Justin's grandmother bought each of the girls a purse. Brynn thought this was the coolest thing every but Sadie was a little confused. She thought this was the purpose of a purse:

It has now become her new hat! She wears it everywhere!!! Weird kid!

Sorry for the blogging hiatus! I really have no excuses, just lack of exciting topics. I took some time off from work to get some stuff done around here.
Yesterday was my birthday.....the big 2-8. WOW! 30 is just around the corner.
The girls are doing good. Brynn has started a "fear of everything" phase and it is driving us nuts! She wants to sleep in our bed every night and we are firm believers of not allowing that. It has been a nightmare every night at bedtime and I really have no idea of how to handle this.
I never posted our family picture from the pumpkin patch, so here ya go:

I really have no great stories, but will try to do better. I am getting caught up at work so it may be a little while before I am back in full force, but I WILL be back!!!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!!!!!
Here is Brynn as Clifford the Big Red Dog:
And another one:

Seriously, this was the only good picture that came out.
Here is Sadie as a bumblebee:

And the family picture:

Sorry for the lack of posting! We (Chick-fil-A) are sponsoring the Abilene High vs Cooper football game this week so I haven't been around much lately. This game will consist of 15,000 people and I am getting stressed to my gills. The cheerleaders came and decorated the store for both schools and Circuit City came out and set up gaming stations, so it has been pretty darn festive around there. Here is a peek into how things have been this week:

MADHOUSE! I am really having a good time and so far (fingers crossed) things have gone relatively smooth! I will post stories later on.
Hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Weekend, coupons, Roseola, etc.

This was a whirlwind of a weekend for us! We were actually kid-free the whole weekend! We sure did enjoy the peace and quiet. We got to spend the whole weekend hanging out with our friends and not changing one, single diaper! (that's exciting in our world)

I have been wanting to share this website for awhile, but always kept forgetting. I randomly found it and I check it every week for good buys.

They share a lot of good info and offers for everyone.

On a different note, we are battling a fun case of roseola with BOTH girls. They both are running fever, a little whiny, but overall look a lot worse then they seem to feel. Any ideas and suggestions would be peachy!

Have a great Monday!

Scratch and Dent-Part Two

Yes, I did the layout and banner. I am so glad it all showed up!

Now Part Two....

We are super-pumped about our great deal so we come home and Justin grabs his truck and heads up there to pick everything up. I am home getting everything cleaned up and ready for the new stuff. Justin gets back and we get the washer installed and running-no problem. He brings the fridge into the garage to plug in and let it start cooling. I really begin to think that the fridge is way too big for our "fridge space" in our kitchen. (I had mentioned this once already at Lowes but he assured me it was just fine). It just looked so much bigger once we got home! I ask Justin about it and he rolls his eyes and says it is fine.

ME: "Babe are you sure it isn't going to be too big. Maybe you should go measure just in case."
J: "Leave me alone. I know it is going to fit. Would you get off my case if I went in there and measured right this second."
ME: "Yes!"

I wait........and wait.........and wait.........

A little while later he comes out with this embarrassing grin.

J:"I think it is going to be too big!"

I begin to freak out but Justin assures me that no matter what, he will make it work. He begins to disassemble our counter and cabinets. He literally had to move everything over an inch for this massive thing to fit.

So now we have this overly-giant fridge in my itty-bitty kitchen. Don't get me wrong, I am not griping nor would I ever change it. It does look kind of out of place though and it is hard to get into the freezer because the door really can't open entirely, but we don't have to use ice trays anymore. YIPPEE!

Also, please note that I posted EVERY DAY this week!

Scratch and Dent-Part One

We are still undecided on the costume vote, but I will keep ya posted!

Last week I was spending a normal day doing laundry and what do ya know, my washer quits. Mid-load (full of towels might I add).......done. We get everything out and start bucketing water out.........not a fun job! Justin completely dismantles the washer and we cannot get it to start working. So, Saturday we're off to every store Abilene hoping we can find a plain-jane washer that will be cheap. We weren't really having any luck so we head across town to this new Lowe's they built. We are big fans of the "scratch and dent" section. Pretty much every store has this area and we are huge supporters of this sale. They will mark stuff down by $100-$150 just becuase it has a little ding in the side. My philosophy is, I really don't care if it has a minor scratch in it because my kids will do much worse to it within one week. This is always the first area we go to whenever we are in Lowes or Home Depot.

Anyways........I find this plain, basic washer on clearance for $250 because it had a dent in the side (which will be against a wall in my laundry room). I am talking to Justin about it and the manager comes out and starts talking to us about the "S&D" section. He proceeds to tell us that we thinks it looks trashy when all of that stuff is laying out so he prices it as low as he can so that it will sell that day. SCORE! He sees that I am looking at the washer and says, "I'll give it to you for $150 if you take it today." SOLD! I am so excited about the great deal and we finish chatting for a little while and as we were getting ready to leave, I see Justin with his eye on this HUGE fridge.

This fridge is massive, nice, side-by-side, ice/water in the door, etc. (Yes we still use old-school ice trays). We talk with the manager about the fridge and how nice it was (HINT, HINT) but it was originally $900 and was marked down to $810 (out of our price range-considering we don't even need a new fridge). It had a quarter-sized dent on one of the sides down towards the bottom.

We decide to go and I turn to him and ask, "Just for grins, what are you going to mark that fridge down to?"

He grins for a minute and says, "Would you take it right now for $450?"

In shock I reply, "Load it on up!"

It gets better!

We get to the cashier and I see a sign that says they honor Home Depot coupons. Lucky for us, I am the coupon-queen and I have a 10% off coupon from Home Depot!!

So, we walked out of Lowes with a brand new washer and a brand new fridge for $585! Can't beat that kind of deal!

Part two coming soon.........

Costume Vote

At what age do you let their child pick their own costume out? I mean, technically, she changes her mind every day so should I really take her seriously?

Here's the story:
Yesterday I find this really cute Clifford costume on Ebay and I am totally pumped knowing Brynn is going to LOVE it. See!

We decided and agreed on Clifford but then......STUPID ME.......starts playing around on Ebay and Brynn sees a costume for Jessie the Cowgirl from Toy Story 2:

She was sold on it the second she saw it. I mean, it is a really cute costume but I just really like the Clifford one. So, today we talked about it and she wants to be both. I told her that wasn't possible and now I am undecided. Any opinions?

Brynn's Visitor

We have been having troubles with Brynn prefering to play at the dinner table rather than eat. As you know, we have tried many different things (Click HERE to see previous antics). So, tonight we were sitting down at dinner and Justin decides to tell Brynn that if she ate everything, then the Chick-fil-A cow would come pay her a visit when she got out of the bathtub! She was so excited and ate so good! When she was done eating we 'called' the cow and asked if he wanted to come over and play with her. She went and got her bath and while "daddy ran to the store".......COW CAME OVER TO PLAY!!!!!!!

Of course we had to get our picture made with the cow!

Brynn decided to show the cow her little stuffed cow that looked just like him!

A Child's Mind

Lately I have been absolutely surprised at what comes out of Brynn's mouth! I love to watch her think complex things through all in her little world.

It takes me back about 24 years. I clearly remember not being able to process that there was an entire world outside of Abilene. We would drive by the big Borden milk plant that was this huge white house and I totally believed that it was the White House where the President lived. Mom would tell me about Washington D.C. and it would just totally baffle me. Whenever people would talk of these cool places like the beach or Disneyworld I would just assume that they were a part of Abilene that I hadn't been to yet. The idea of other cities, states, countries, or continents just confused me.

So, the other day we are pulling out of the driveway and Justin has installed these little wire "doggie windows" in the fence so that the dogs can see out (by the way these are an amazing idea-our dogs absolutely LOVE them) anyways...

Brynn sees Lucy looking out the window and she and stares at her for awhile and we drive on to Grammy's house. We are almost there and Brynn says, "Mommy, I am so sad."
"Why?" I ask
"Because Lucy is in the hospital!" She replies.

WHAT????? Where did she get that from!?

The Fair

Last night we made the annual trip to the West Texas Fair and Rodeo! This year was Brynn's first year to be able to ride any of the rides. Only problem: One adult has to ride with her on every ride. Guess who got nominated for that fun guessed it! Out of my parents, Justin, and my brother and his one else volunteered. I just don't have the stomach that I once had. Please notice the look of distress on my face as Dumbo started to raise into the air:

Brynn had absolutely no fear of any ride. She always wanted it to go faster, higher, etc. Sadie stayed in a daze pretty much the whole time wondering where we were at. Here we are on the carousel.

Then, of course, the one ride I didn't much care for (Dumbo) Brynn wanted to ride over and over.
Poor Sadie finally gave out towards the end of the night:

Brynn wasn't much far behind:

The lovely super slide adventure that has me sore all over:

This was the greatest story of the night. Brynn sees these big "teddy bears" that spin round and round. (I see one big puke machine). She really wants to ride so we get on. I just tell myself that we won't turn the little wheel inside so then we won't spin. At the last second, these older girls get in our bear!!!! I could tell it was going to be trouble. All they could talk about was how fast they were going to spin it. Please watch the video below......notice that the ride hasn't even started and they are already spinning the blasted bear! It all went downhill from there. Brynn absolutely loved it, but mom almost lost it!

I am still alive

Just barely, but I am still here! Sadie passed her stomach bug onto me so it was a really yucky week. Justin and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary on Tuesday. I had just gotten sick so we watched 6 hours of "Paradise Hotel" on some random channel. Yippee! We want to go see "Bourne Ultimatum" sometime this week. I have already seen it but I want Justin to see it. Then, this weekend we made a quick trip to Dublin to welcome his parents back. (they had moved to Dalhart but long story short, things didn't work out as planned and they are back in Dublin). It was so good to be back at their place after not seeing it for months.

Let's see......what other good stuff. We got Brynn one of those singing potty chairs. When you pee in it, it sings a song. My lovely daughter just sits on it (without peeing of course) and sings a song out loud. She then leaps up and runs out yelling that the potty sang the song. Weird kid.

Sadie has just not been doing well ever since the tummy bug. She is still really cranky and running fever. I guess we will get to make a doctor visit this week.

Brynn has associated the stomach bug with Sadie having diaper rash. We told her so much while Sadie was sick that, "her bottom hurt" and "we have to medicine on Sadie's bottom". Well, once I got the bug Brynn felt like such a helper telling everyone "Mommy's bottom hurt. I put medicine on her botttom and make it feel all better." Nice. Thanks Brynn!

Diaper rash and other fun stuff

Okay, so Sadie has a severe case of diarhea and diaper rash (to the point of blisters). We are doing oatmeal baths, gobs of cream, and CLOTH diapers! YIPPEE!! It started Wednesdayish and got progressively worse. She is getting better today, but hasn't been able to eat anything-only drinking pedialite. Her diaper rash was so bad that when she would pee or poop, she would scream so hard, start sweating, and quiver all over. Yes, very heartbreaking! The doctor said that it was 'just a virus' and would go away soon. What a great way to start off the weekend!

Here's a story to leave ya with:

Justin had to run out in the garage to grab something so he just threw on my bathrobe real quick. Brynn was sitting in front of the tv fully engrossed in a movie and not paying any attention. Justin ran throught the room and her jaw dropped to the ground. She had this complete look of shock on her face. She ran over to me and said, "It's Jesus!"

"Look Mommy, it's Jesus!" (pointing at Justin)

I guess in Brynn's eyes, Jesus wears lavender bathrobes!

My dancing girls

Nothing has been going on, so I have had nothing to write. We have been swamped at work with this big "back to school" promotion. But anywho.....

The other day I was home with the girls and I was in the kitchen loading the dishwasher. I see Sadie run through carrying the remote to the tv (she nabs this as often as she can) and I hear some rock music playing in the living room. I peek around the corner and see Brynn dancing away in front of the tv. She is breaking it down and I start to get cracked up. Then, Sadie walks up and starts dancing along beside her. The two of them are in their own little world just a dancing away. I decide to creep around the other corner so that I could get behind them and video them. As I creeped into the living room I saw what they were so engrossed in and dancing to....................the movie Striptease!!!!!!! (and trust me it was not a very nice part of the movie). I freak out and start trying to get the remote from Sadie who is now in a dead sprint to get away from me while Brynn is still just staring away at the movie! Justin calls a little while later:
HIM: "What are you doing?"
ME: "Cleaning the kitchen."
HIM: "What are the girls doing?"
ME: "Watching Striptease."

Sadie is One!

I can't believe it is already here! Sadie is one year old today! I took the day off to spend some time with the girls and we had a 'play date' with some friends of ours. It was very chaotic but a blast to say the least. The ages of the girls were 6 weeks, 19 months, 1 year, and 2 years. CRAZY! Here is the rowdy bunch:

Now that Sadie is one, her words include: mama, dada, eat, go, bye-bye, duck, no, yes, and Ace. Watching her today left me in awe of how great God is to me. My girls are absolutely everything to me and I am so thankful for them!

Brush with a Celebrity

I am back in town now! It feels so good to be back in good ole' Abilene! We had a lot fun the rest of the week getting things up and going at the store and even had some time to go play downtown. Here is a picture from the arch.....pretty cool!!!

Onto the best story EVER! No really, EVER!!! Okay, so they pull into the airport to drop me off for my flight from St. Louis to DFW. We see this lady that works for the airport (dressed pretty nice) blocking a parking spot. We laugh about how she is just standing in the spot and I go on about my way. I head into the airport and get a very long line for security. Out of the corner of my eye I see her standing two people ahead of me with these two black guys. I don't pay any attention and proceed to take my laptop out of the bag, remove my jewelry, take my shoes off, etc. The two guys start doing the same and I notice one of their arms is tattooed all the way down to his wrist. He is ducking his head pretty low so I couldn't really see him. Then he proceeds to start taking his watch off and the diamonds blind me. I realize that the lady is with them and she has their id's and is now whispering to the security guards. That is when it all clicked with me and I saw his face. It was..............

50 in the rapper 50 CENT!!!!!

OK, so now I am totally FREAKING out. I start looking around to see if anyone else sees them and it is mostly older businessmen who would have no clue who he was. Finally, he realizes that I am gawking at him and he grins and says, "What's up?"

Guess what the only reply I could come up with was........."Hi"

Not anything cool or fun, just "hi". They are now through security and heading down this side hallway. I am rushing to get all of my stuff together and get me shoes on so that I could get a picture of them. I finally am on the run after them and I pull out my camera phone. Now you must know I NEVER use the camera on my phone so I am fumbling trying to figure it out. I get a picture of the back of the their heads. This is what I get:

Great, that is not going to work. They are rushed into the Admiral's Club and the doors close behind them. I say (what I thought was to myself but apparently out loud), "I need in there!!" This guy comes up and says, "I am heading in there." I know I can't go in there but I wanted to try and get a better picture. So the doors open I snap the picture and here is how it turned out:

The guy on the far right with the bag is the guy who opened the door for me and the guy on the left in the white t-shirt and hat is 50 Cent. I swear on a stack of Bibles!!!

So now I have spent all day doing the "what if I would have done this...." or "I should have said this...." It is killing me!

That was my day at the St. Louis Airport!!!

Update in St. Louis

Things have been absolutely nuts since I got here! We hit the ground running, getting everything promoted and advertised for the opening of the store. Today was the official opening and it was a madhouse. Sunday-Wednesday we were getting the store ready for today and blitzing the town with info on all of the grand opening events. Since I assume most of you do not know all the CFA traditions, I will enlighten you. The first 100 people in line receive free CFA for a year! So, they started lining up on Tuesday at midnight to camp out. Yesterday evening we got our 100th camper in line and then the party started. They had a DJ and tons of games and giveaways for the whole crowd. Here was a picture early in the day as people started arriving and setting up. NUTS!!

And here is a close-up of one of the tents.

I have been having a blast with everyone that has been here. One night, we played dodgeball in this massive place that was wall-to-wall trampolines and even the walls were trampolines. So, amidst all the work we are finding time to have fun. There have been people on our operating team here from Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Georgia, etc. Apparently I have a pretty 'texan' accent so I stand out pretty bad. Here is our team from Abilene, Texas:

Hope you have enjoyed the update!!!!

My flight leaves in about an hour for St. Louis! I am on the marketing team to open a new CFA there. We took the girls to Justin's parents yesterday to stay for the week. I didn't do so well at first, but now I am doing a little better. I will be back August 12. I will try to blog while I am there but who knows if I will get a chance. Poor Justin will be orphaned here! (I am sure he will be soooo sad!!)

David's Wedding Reception

As I had said before, my brother (David) was married in Australia on June 28th and Saturday was their reception here. It was beautiful and I really enjoyed visiting with all of my family. Here is my hottie husband and I (please note the new dark hair color):

The older I get, the more I truly cherish and enjoy time with my family. I know that sounds bad and I don't mean for it to, but I really had a wonderful time visiting with my cousins. As we have all 'grown up' and have are own careers and family, I feel closer to them and admire what they have become. Okay, that sounded really sappy like it should be read at someone's funeral, but you know what I mean! Justin and I left there saying, "I really wish we lived closer to all of them!" Here I am with my first cousins Diana and Janice:

This was my favorite scene at the reception. Even though we are all married and some of us have kids of our own..........we still have our 'kids table'!!!! Our 'kids table' consisted of a lawyer, 2 teachers, speech pathologist, engineer, 2 doctors (yes they are husband and wife), diesel mechanic, and me. I am sure we have some proud grandparents!!

I will post the big family picture when I get my hands on one!

PS: We see another doctor on Tuesday for Justin's mouth. Keep praying!!
